Abstract

The research is aimed at (1) studying the conceptual and operational frameworks of Curriculum of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) 1994, (2) describing the perceptions of educa-tional personnel, that is the MI Principal and teachers; and (3) identifying the strength and the weakness of it. The design of this study qualitative-descriptive. The data were col-lected through questionnaires, interview, observation, documentation, and focused group discussion. They were obtained from MI Principal and teachers as subjects of research and analyzed by using reflective thinking. The findings showed that (a) the curriculum was conceptually ideal and available; (b) some of the principal and the teachers were still in a narrow understanding about using the curriculum as they absolutely based on GBPP; and (c) the curriculum had its own strength and weakness that should be carried out by the principal, teachers and stakeholders all together.
